Kat Laboratory & Medical is committed to care, and we show our commitment in many ways. As one of the only Diagnostic company’s that supply to Lesotho we face different and sometimes quite unorthodox challenges. Recently we installed one of our clinical analyzer into a remote hospital in the mountains of Qacha’s Nek district.. The Tebellong Hospital is one of the remotest and difficult to reach hospitals in Lesotho, one of the limitation in this area is communication, in order to get any kind of signal, some perilous mountain climbing is required. In order to reach the hospital one has to cross the Senqu river , the largest river in Lesotho. The only way across the river is to take a raft across, which for normal visitors costs R5.00, luckily for us we were permitted to use the hospital raft.
Now Loading a R100 000 analyzer into a make shift raft isn’t an easy decision to make, but as it was the only way to supply the hospital with the analyzer it had to be done. We carefully loaded the analyzer onto the raft, quietly praying that it stayed afloat. Eventually with the analyzer safely secured we made our way across the river. When finally across safe and sound and dry, we had to slowly make our way further up the mountain to the hospital, which still lay far into the mountains
That’s why here at KAT Medical we say ” Committed to care.”
